We started the mapping process for the McKinney Falls State Park which will be the first orienteering map of the Austin OC. In the mean time we are still looking for places for our future maps, so if you know some good orienteering areas around Austin please let us know.

What about the Barton Creek Green Belt? Specifically the Lost Creek area NE to Sculpture Falls. LOTS of little caves, ledges and elevation change.

We haven’t checked the area yet, but we will definitely consider Barton Creek Green Belt for a future orienteering map. This location was proposed before as being a good place for orienteering in the Austin area. We will check out this area soon. Thanks for the good idea.

Our first map at the McKinney Falls State Park is done and will be soon available for sale at the park entrance for everyone to practice orienteering. We are in the process of getting all papers needed by the state park for hosting the first event which will be probably in the first half of this coming November.
